Resources & Tools

Here is a collection of our favourite testing & debugging tools as well as some indispensable resources for GTM & GA
  • GA & GTM Debugging

Our most used plugin to test whether GTM & GA is running smoothly is dataSlayer. dataslayer monitors the data layers used by Google Tag Manager, Tealium, Adobe DTM, and TagCommander to immediately update you when a new value is pushed. It also monitors some of the most popular analytics tags (Google Analytics classic and Universal, Floodlight, and Adobe Analytics) for a single-panel debugging solution.

  • GA Checker

This tool is great for checking your entire site for missing Google Analytics or Google AdWords code with one click. Simply plugin a URL and it will show you whats there and whats missing. Also great to see if any pages are double firing.

  • Check Redirects

Redirect Path flags up 301, 302, 404 and 500 HTTP Status Codes as well as client side redirects like Meta and Javascript redirects, bringing potential issues that may not otherwise be seen to your attention immediately. Great plugin to make sure you are using the appropriate type of redirect and also that you don’t have multiple hops on the same redirect.

  • Screaming Frog

The Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a website crawler, that allows you to crawl websites’ URLs and fetch key onsite elements to analyse onsite SEO. This tool is great not only for SEO but also for various analytics debugging exercises. Here is a great list of what you can do.

  • Multi Platform Browser Compatibility

Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different operating systems and browsers. It is a free open-source online web application providing developers a convenient way to test their website’s browser compatibility in one place. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to our central dedicated server for your review.
